Clean Water

In the richest nation in the history of the world, everyone deserves access to clean, affordable water. Yet from lead to PFAS chemicals, too many Michigan families are dealing with unsafe drinking water.

As soon as Dan learned of high lead levels in Flint’s water, he immediately went to work to secure federal relief for his hometown. Working with Republicans and Democrats, Dan delivered $170 million in aid to help remove pipes and expand health services for families exposed to lead. He has also pushed for accountability when it comes to the failed state decisions that led to this man-made crisis, including passing bipartisan legislation to strengthen public warning notifications when it comes to unacceptable levels of lead found in drinking water.

Many communities across Michigan continue to face the threat of toxic PFAS chemicals. Dan leads the bipartisan PFAS Task Force, bringing together Republicans and Democrats to more urgently clean up contamination. He’s authored dozens of bills to more quickly clean up toxins and hold polluters accountable.
