Protect Women: Reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act

infographic

Republicans are continuing their war on women. Now they are throwing up roadblocks to try and delay the passage of the Violence Against Women Act, which for twenty years has helped to protect women from violence. Despite being passed by a bipartisan Congress in 1994, extreme Tea Party Republicans are once again trying to water down and defeat its reauthorization, specifically trying to eliminate protections for Native American women.

We the undersigned urge immediate passage of S.1925 and H.R. 4271, which strengthen the Violence Against Women Act. The effort to strip VAWA of enhanced protections for Native Americans and members of the LGBT community is unacceptable. It is unconscionable that in the United States these crimes continue to go unpunished. We the undersigned stand with all women.
